Red wing Blackbird walking on grass
Other week over in North Wales a blackbird flew across my eye line and as it banked a shot of red was visible I believe I may have seen a Red wing Blackbird native to Americas and Canada #firstbirdoftheday #ukbird

Wow! What a start to the day ❤️
My #FirstBirdOfTheDay was a blackbird fluting, pulling me from sleep.
The rain has returned after a bright start at dawn. The small birds have vanished and just the Common Gulls are left circling..first up was a Thrush mmm. #Firstbirdoftheday
Half a dozen wood pigeons evenly spaced out in the bare branches of an oak tree as two herring gulls flew overhead. #FirstBirdOfTheDay
A blackbird was my first birdsong of the morning.
Not sure what he was so upset about.
Birds have so much of their own dreams and drama we are not privy to.

#firstbirdoftheday Great Spotted Woodpecker, heard drumming. Good spring-like sign even if the village is draped in a damp murk this morning.
In the morning gloom, my #FirstBirdOfTheDay was also a blackbird, sat totally still in the magnolia seemingly quietly observing the world.
bird of the day is a 2-4-1.
Magpies & Crows have paired up, jostling for scraps under the feeders, what is curious is that both pairs are eyeing & today tentatively building the same nest, its -5!! The nest is a leftover in the silver birch from last year.

Many times I’ve heard plenty of birds up in the canopies but it has taken ages to see one. Maggie didn’t disappoint this morning though, hopping down to the lawn as soon as I walked up the path - almost heard her say ‘Where’s my leftovers?’ #FirstBirdOfTheDay #WhatsYours
I thought I heard a scrub wren and walked down the garden to check it out but sprung a small flock of crimson rosellas who were foraging under the ti trees and partly hidden by the buttercups. They flew off in a minor panic and took out the honours for #FirstBirdOfTheDay #WhatsYours
Sharp-shinned hawk. From the Audubon website.
#FirstBirdOfTheDay Sitting on an electrical pole that is currently a roosting spot for starlings was a sharp-shinned hawk! First one I've seen in this sparsely planted suburban neighborhood I call home. (pic from Audubon site)
Hand on heart not the first bird I “saw” this morning but the first one my distracted mind registered: a red kite, balancing on the restless air above, eyeing up a mangled pheasant on the road for his/her breakfast. #FirstBirdOfTheDay
Two Long Tailed Tits -
(Aegithalos caudatus)
Flitting about on the tree by my bedroom window.
Picking at the branches forva few seconds, then flying off.
I don't often see them, so that was nice.

A European Robin
(Erithacus rubecula)
I stood at the French door, looking into the garden.
Jaunty Robin landed close-by. It looked straight towards me and did a bob curtsey.
So naturally I curtseyed back.

I was longing to see skylarks when I was there earlier in the year but perhaps it was the wrong time. A magpie wandering up and down his patch of the nature strip was my first sighting today. #FirstBirdOfTheDay #WhatsYours
Crows flying from the woods towards town. Grey wuthering sky.

A pair of magpies flying in the clear morning sky after a storm.

Lying in bed back home trying to summon up the energy to check moth traps, a couple of jackdaws jecking in the distance. #firstbirdoftheday

The predawn pond, reflecting pinks and grays, was still. Several quacks echoed softly, and a heretofore undetected holy dozen flock of Mottled Ducks splashed down into their happy milieu.
Up early to avoid the heat, haring over to the Lookout at
Holkham. Swifts, here Swifts there, Swifts everywhere..Gosh it’s hot #Firstbirdoftheday
Shuffling nervously around on the shed roof, a newly fledged little Wren fell a foot into the foliage, gathered itself together and disappeared back into the Ivy.. so gorgeous to watch #Firstbirdoftheday
Sizzling from early here, Blackbirds and Sparrows first out and about for water and food. #Firstbirdoftheday
brilliant, sparkling light at dawn
Glittering reflected on the shimmering yellow beaks of the Blackbirds joyfully fluttering about #Firstbirdoftheday
Very grey here, drizzle before storms a world of bedraggled feathers. Blackbirds flitting about, damp Sparrows scrabbling on the ground #Firstbirdoftheday
Hmm..I adore them. Here we have the Thrush family breakfast underway. , soon to be followed by the Blackbird brunch. #Firstbirdoftheday
Junior birds everywhere today, a flurry of Blackbirds mobbing young rooms and a Sparrow nipping in quietly to feed unobserved #Firstbirdoftheday
Gloriously we have a little
Rain, the early morning dances worked and the bird bath is overflowing. The Blackbirds are delirious and we’re my first today. #Firstbirdoftheday
A Thrush in flight, perfect for a Monday morning #Firstbirdoftheday
At the sign of the shed after dawn this morning, (slept in) a tussle of Blackbirds fending off the baby Squirrel on the road to the feeder #Firstbirdoftheday
Lovely - here an early huddled up Wood pigeon sheltering from the cool of early morning air #Firstbirdoftheday
