“We’ll Fry It Anyway.” Why reheating food doesn’t always make it safe — a simple kitchen mistake that can lead to food poisoning

“We’ll fry it anyway.”

That sentence can cause food poisoning.

I heard it today during a food safety audit in a 5-star hotel.

People say “it’s just candy,” but it’s far more sinister imo. A 2026 Florida Department of Health review tested a variety of candies. In that testing, Nerds measured around 380-450 ppb of arsenic, & it gets worse.

Ultra-Low Asparagine Wheat Developed Using Precision Gene Editing | Rothamsted Research Scientists at Rothamsted Research have successfully developed wheat with dramatically reduced levels of asparagine, without affecting yield, using gene editing techniques, offering a promising route to safer food production and improved regulatory compliance. Results from two years of field trials demonstrate that wheat produced using CRISPR genome editing can significantly lower concentrations of free asparagine—an amino acid that converts into acrylamide, a toxic and probably carcinogenic compound formed during everyday baking, frying, and toasting.

#FoodSafety: Bread made from gene-edited wheat showed much reduced levels of acrylamide, a common but toxic and probably carcinogenic compound. Conventional breeding would unlikely deliver similar improvements: www.rothamsted.ac.uk/news/ultra-l... #Wheat #CRISPR #GeneEditing #PlantBreeding #Health

If anyone needs any encouragement to avoid American fruit, consider that one county has records of PFAS chemicals sprayed to crops as far back as 2018. Also, California is banning use of such PFAS pesticides starting in 2035 .
