The ocean has been so generous lately with shark teeth. Seriously the best toothing I’ve ever experienced. #fossilhunting #sharkteeth #sharktooth
A small collection of fossils arranged on a white background. From left to right is a dark piece of rib bone, a broken angustidens shark tooth missing the whole root, a very nice bull shark tooth, a massive but badly preserved great white shark tooth, a rough-looking hemipristis shark tooth, a juvenile angustidens tooth, and five very small mixed shark teeth.
Haven't done one of these in a while! Here's the highlights from yesterday and today. #fossilhunting
Shark toothing has been phenomenal lately #sharktooth #sharkteeth #sharks #fossils #fossilhunting
A fossilized great white shark tooth laying in light brown dirt. Someone's boots are in the shot for scale.
A closeup of the fossil great white tooth.
We stumbled upon a new fossil site today. Probably gonna post the rest of my finds later! Here's my best, a truly massive great white tooth! #fossilhunting

A fossil shark tooth in Tabby's palm. It's a rear mouth tooth from a young megalodon, the biggest shark to ever live on Earth.
Slogged through the mud to find this weird adolescent meg! No video this time because I was afraid of dropping my phone. #fossilhunting
The Coolest Part?
Even though the green stone’s fossils were likely “smeared” away by metamorphism, the dark chert is packed with micro-fossils from a shallow sea that once covered Pennsylvania!

More than 100 million years ago, this place was covered by a warm ancient sea.
Today, we walk its shoreline in search of the creatures it left behind — giant ammonites, sea urchins, shark teeth, and quiet reminders of deep time.

small grey pebbles on a river bed. two are fossilised coral. one is bumpy and the other has long thin lines
finally. some sun. when these corals were alive, 340 million years ago, in the Lower Carboniferous. Yorkshire was about 30° south of the equator, at the bottom of a warm shallow sea. the Silurian cobble nearby is 100 million years older. it comes from an unconformity further upstream. #fossilhunting
A wide shot of a muddy creek bank with a massive golden-brown shark tooth weathering out in the middle.
An unposted as-found shot of my most recent find. Haven't had much to share lately since the weather's been so bad. #fossilhunting

So, I got really lucky yesterday in the creekbeds. Video taken by the husband. #fossil #fossilhunting
A fossil shark tooth in dirt. The tip of Tabby's boot is nearby for scale.
A fossil from an extinct prehistoric shark. It's a blue-gray and tan tooth with serrated edges. Likely from Carcharocles angustidens.
Oh! Hey! Right on the path! #fossil #fossilhunting
24 dome-shaped sea urchin fossils, sometimes called sea biscuits. Some are damaged, while others are very well-preserved. Each one has the familiar "star" pattern found on sand dollars.
My echinoid finds from Sunday morning! These are Hardounia mortonis, an extinct species of sea urchin that lived between 66 and 70 million years ago. #fossils #fossilhunting
A large, bumpy sea shell fossil, about the size of an average person's fist.
Found this excellent exogyra in the surf yesterday. This particular species of oyster lived during the Cretaceous, alongside the dinosaurs. #fossil #fossilhunting
An old gray cat bends down to sniff a sea urchin fossil. There are about twenty of them on the porch, next to a garden hose.
Baby Kitty hung out with me while I rinsed my fossil finds. #fossilhunting
A broken fossil shark tooth in Tabby's palm. It's been split down the middle and the right side is missing. It would have been very impressive, had it been whole.
Husband found this in the creek yesterday. Heartbreaker. #fossilhunting #fossil
There's never a dull moment on Coal Spoil Habitat... And if Fossils make your day... Go take a look!
A massive, what looks to be, Calamites from the Carboniferous period.

Its a Palaeontologists utopia at the bottom. I'm more than happy respecting the water and admire from a distance. #RobinHoodsBay #fossilhunting

Another closeup of the same slab, covered in tiny sea shells.
A zoomed out look at the slab
A small slab of the ancient ocean floor, as found in Ohio. There were so many of these at this site! #fossilhunting
