Originally rediscovered in our sampling season in October 2022, this week’s #fridayfind is a remarkable stone statuette found within a fill context near the Ahmose Cemetery. Note the emphasized frontally and verticality, two stylistic characteristics of Egyptian statuary.

We simply cannot resist another small #FridayFind! This week we have a faience bead, reminiscent in shape to a shell, and decorated with an enchanting vignette of a hathoric face with uraei. Similar beads have also been found in the Theban area, providing an interesting comparative corpus!

The front of an old compass which belonged to Reverend Athanasius Aud. The compass dates back to the early 19th century, is set in wood with a metal bezel and glass crystal, measures 3" in diameter.
