Originally rediscovered in our sampling season in October 2022, this week’s #fridayfind is a remarkable stone statuette found within a fill context near the Ahmose Cemetery. Note the emphasized frontally and verticality, two stylistic characteristics of Egyptian statuary.

We simply cannot resist another small #FridayFind! This week we have a faience bead, reminiscent in shape to a shell, and decorated with an enchanting vignette of a hathoric face with uraei. Similar beads have also been found in the Theban area, providing an interesting comparative corpus!

This is a coin weight! Coin weights were used to verify the authenticity of a coin. This one is for a French coin, called an Ecu d'Or. It was excavated from a posthole that cut into the 1607 burial ground.
