Most of my pottery gets fired to cone 12 reduction… that is quite hot, but it allows me to make glazes of simple things like wood ash, kaolin and quartz without anything else…
Here my home made gas kiln is nearly there 1270’C ish

Backyard ceramic kiln set up. An old electric kiln converted for gas firing.
Handmade ceramic colander. Teal and copper glazes.
Handmade decorative ceramic bowl. Green and copper glazes. Rim of the bowl has a decorative pine needle basket edge.
Throwback to my first kiln. I was brand new to pottery. I found a broken electric kiln on Craigslist, & turned it into a gas kiln. At first I was firing my work with just $30 weed burner (not the safest!!) I could only manage up to cone 6, but had some beautiful results.

A deep red teapot with two cups of slightly different designs in a matching glaze. The teapot is smooth and round and looks as if it would feel good in the hand like a nice round polished river stone. The lid sits flush with a tiny cup shaped knob fitted with a vent hole directly in the middle to reduce suction for a smooth pour. The teapot is fitted with a simple black metal handle with a round arc. The spout of the pot looks as though it is whistling and makes me happy just to look at it.
So I have been a potter for quite some time, but I haven't shown much of it. Since this is a new platform and a new way to share, I'm going to try and be more active. Here's a little peek of my first tea set.
