Now that I'm back from a couple trips, I can finally take inventory of all the new stuff I bought for my gunpla #GBWC project, including paints, Bandai™ decals, scribing tools, and builder parts. I'm still salty about having to use Bandai decals, hopefully they aren't as bad as I remember.

"Project Raptor," as the name implies, is inspired by birds of prey, hunting birds of the real world like falcons, eagles, etc. As such the main design philosophy here was inspired by an "avian" look - wings, clawed feet, and somewhat slender proportions for the chest into the waist. The arms look a little clumsy on this design layout, but the forearms will be detached in "battle" so the large size of the hands won't be as immediately obvious. The shoulders are also still up in the air, I might try to work in a different kit's shoulders with a bit less of a sharp angle, or omit them altogether and just have the upper arms as is. We'll see. The head is also something I'm still debating on. I like the Baund Doc's very "avian" look with almost a beak to it, but not sure if it'll fit right - I might wind up scratch building or adding on additional armor or effects to it from the other kits. I'll probably add in some metallic reds and golds as well, borrowing from some birds like the Red-Tailed Hawk or Peregrine Falcon, so it won't be wholly based off a single species of bird, but more using that as a guiding idea without being completely constrained by it. It will evoke that imagery and feeling but still be able to be part of a balanced visual look for a mobile suit. Red-Tailed Hawk Peregrine Falcon
In keeping with the avian theme of Project Raptor, the "enemy" it will be fighting/hunting is meant to appear like a fish or other aquatic creature. Rather than simply go with an aquatic bipedal suit like a Z'Gok, I was inspired largely by BuilderPan's entry to try to make a more "animal" looking opponent. It will likely be partially submerged/emerging from some kind of (resin?) water/river with Project Raptor diving to attack it, but will be in a more dynamic pose than just this overhead straight position. Head: MG Wing Zero Ver Ka shield with rifles (no good images from the angle I wanted with the rifles, pretend the rectangles are them) "Fins": MG Freedom 2.0 wings Chest: RG Zeong Legs: MG Freedom 2.0, possibly alongside MG Wing Zero Ver Ka legs to balance it out, specifics will kinda need to be built to really figure out, this will hopefully look more filled out than it does - might even cut off at the knees or partial through calves Bottom Thrusters: RG Zeong

After spending all my free time for weeks working on it, rushing to get it finished before the #GBWC deadline, I finally got my diorama ready enough to stick in my photo booth, as the last thing I do before bed (and work tomorrow).

Thanks to Dalong.net I’ve been able to make a mostly scaled mock up for the main Gundam form my #GBWC entry next year.
Obviously this is also just the build, not painted to be unified.
I’m also planning on a different head for sure, and possibly different shoulders.

Okay! So, now a little summary of my experience at the #GBWC event at HobbyTown Frederick, MD.
First off, great store. Nice staff there, good selection of Bandai kits, and plenty of solid paints and supplies. Plus some pretty cool display shelves in the back - wish I'd gotten better pics.
