I'm sorry I'm a #Geriatrician. Any question on #boards where adding another medication without even maxing out dose of other medications patient is on for same condition is incorrect, I don't care what the guidelines say.
Even in young patients, who wants to be on multiple meds?

As a #Geriatrician I would have a mental health crisis without access to my #socialwork colleagues. They are so critical to my work, not having them is the professional equivalent of amputating an arm and the contralateral leg.

This administration makes work at the VA untenable

Fortunately for me, my only in-person #patient care this week has been in senior living facilities where all the patients were definitely born before 1950. But if you're not a #Geriatrician in town, and take care of patients below age 70, welcome to hell.

I'm a #Geriatrician and #history was my favorite subject growing up (these are in fact related), but seriously, has anyone ever met or had a conversation with anyone over 70 years old? How could anyone not know how bad it was?

He was in his mid 80s when he died, so not unexpected, I was one of the last students he ever mentored. He was a Greatest Generation, World War 2 Veteran, Vietnam protestor. The loss of those like him is exactly why we are where we are.
(And yes, one of my impetus to be a #Geriatrician)

I'm a #Geriatrician. I haven't taken care of a child really <21 (which is our cutoff for #Pediatric care where I work) in 15 years, and very rarely take care of young adults. I'm not equipped to help my understaffed, overburdened #pediatrics colleagues with this, as much as I feel for them.

I will VERY rarely do a very low-stakes #blackjack table because at least there's some strategy to it, but I hate slot machines (though as #Geriatrician acknowledge it is a #financial health problem in elders) and never done sports betting and don't understand any of these #online #draftkings shit

What can you do with the results? It can help you decide if you should get input from a #geriatrician, especially before a stressful event like surgery or systemic chemotherapy.
It's not a hard no to doing things, though. It's a signal to dive deeper & see what makes sense. That's what we do!

One of the many benefits of being a #Geriatrician - my patients as a whole want to get their #vaccines. Because they grew up when the vaccines didn't exist and saw their friends in their third grade class one week and dead the next week.

But, please get #vaccinated. For shingles, that's two doses. There's a lot going on right now about pediatric vaccines, but adult vaccines are also key.
They help you to live long enough and independently enough to find out I'm a #geriatrician and tell me you don't think you need to see me.
