Finished my first book of the year.
Great reminder that wolves were beginning to make a comeback in the northern Rockies all by themselves (before the human-driven reintroductions began). #GlacierPark #ParkChat #Nature
I only have two weeks left here, so I repeated my fave hike #dawsonpitamakan

Triple Divide Pass is one of my favorite hikes! It is located in a sparsely visited part of the park, so there arent many people on the trail. 14.5 miles rt, 2500 ft elev gain, and a geological wonder!

The gnarled and exposed roots of a cedar or hemlock tree.
Little blue forget-me-nots grow wild near McDonald Creek in West Glacier.
Some blooms of wild hemlock water parsnips look like white fireworks blasts, clusters of clusters of tiny ivory dots.
A patch of common cord moss in sap green grows on a trail next to McDonald Creek near the bridge by Apgar Village.
🌿🌳🌱Some natural beauty and #wildflowers from my stay in #GlacierPark last week.

Might still tweak this but I'm pretty happy with it. I haven't done a lot of landscapes but they're really relaxing! May do more... #art #gouache #glacierpark #nps

Today's #glacierpark #hike was a classic, the Highline from Logan's Pass to Granite Park Chalet and back. I got up at 4:00 am, and arrived at the parking lot at 5:52, and there were only a few parking spots left, despite cloudy rainy cold weather. Too many people on the trail, even at 6:00 am!! 1/2
My weekend getaway #GlacierPark
#ptarmigantunnel is a cool tunnel through a top of a mountain in #glacierpark which today yielded my best marmot pic ever (see prev post). They are super limiting who can come into this part of park this summer, so there were very few people on the trail. Now I could use a beer and foot massage! 2/2
Sweet little morning #hike to #asterfalls and overlook, about 4 miles roundtrip. I enjoyed coffee, scones, my book, and some delightful conversation with friends I ran into up high. I also saw my 4th moose of the summer! Too buried in foliage for a good pic, but she was huge! #glacierpark
Giving my feet a rest, so I drove the Going-to-the-Sun Road today to Lake McDonald where the weather was perfect, so I kayaked for a couple hours. And ate a giant ice cream cone! #glacierpark
#glacierpark #hiking Unfortunately it got quite smoky as I summited Scenic Point. Even this cute marmot couldn't see much of a view, but it was still a fantastic hike and highly recommended! 2/2
#glacierpark #hiking Today I hiked from East Glacier to Two Medicine via the Mount Henry trail and over Scenic Point. The first 3 miles are on reservation land until you hit the park border. It's a gorgeous but challenging 12 miles with 3100 feet of elevation gain. 1/2
#pieganpass #hike #glacierpark 2/3 The scenery was gorgeous. I didn't see any wildlife except birds and squirrels, even on the pass, but i did see this weird footprint about 3 miles in. I thought it was grizzly, but now that I Googled, it doesn't look so. Everyone at dinner said #bigfoot ! Wtf???
Today's #glacierpark #hike was the #PieganPass trail from the Jackson Glacier Overlook. About half the trail was snow-covered, so it was a little messy but still great! I only saw one other guy on the entire trail, and he had started in the Many Glacier area, and I was the only person he'd seen. 1/3
Besides #hiking , the best part about working #glacierpark is the friends I've met. I met John in 2021 and we reunited today to #hike to #avalanchelake. It's a pretty easy 5 miles roundtrip, and worthwhile as you start in huge old growth cedars, then rainforest, then land at this gorgeous lake!
(2/2, #cobaltlake #glacierpark ) Also, the weather started to turn, so I headed back, but about 8.5 miles and 1500 feet of elevation gain, not a bad day at all. So grateful to be here this summer!
The #hike to #cobaltlake in #glacierpark is underrated! It's a gorgeous hike through a valley of giant mountains, passing streams, waterfalls, lots of wildflowers. I often see a moose along the way. I didn't make it all the way to the lake as the last mile + was snow-covered and difficult (1/2)
