Daffodils blooming in Atlanta on January 10th.
Yellow flowers of the native Carolina Jessamine blooming in Atlanta, 1-2 months earlier than normal.
One of many instances of pink muhly grass blooming way out of season. Dormancy from drought in late summer and fall resulted in many of these failing to produce inflorescences. A couple of rounds of warm and humid weather in late December and early January has them blooming 2-4 months late.
Ozark witch hazel with frilly yellow/orange-red starter blooming in my backyard in late December, about 1-2 months earlier than normal. Have seen several pollinators on it this week.
Hopefully cooler temps after today slow down this absurdly early start to spring in Atlanta. The progression of weather since late summer even has muhly grass blooming out of season. Saw my first carpenter bee yesterday, too. #globalweirding
