Standard Physics invented "virtual particles" (ghosts) to explain the muon's wobble (g-2).
The Abbott Audit removes the ghosts. The wobble is simple Mechanical Friction.

physics is really experimental driven at the moment. This is why we do experiments, measuring things precisely (and substantially more precisely than theory). This is the summary plot of the #gminus2 result that comes out today, comparing purple (experiment) to yellow (150+ theoretical physicists)
and a very nice video by the MuonG-2 experiment www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LAg... #gminus2
At #Fermilab, the Muon g Minus Two collaboration just announced the latest results, based on analysis of their entire data set from 6 years of running.
With more data, they've managed to shrink the uncertainty in the tiny number they measure from over 400 parts per billion to 127 ppb.

The @fermilab.bsky.social Muon g-2 experiment has announced the most precise measurement of the magnetic anomaly of the muon.
Our researchers played a key role to the experiment’s latest findings.

Muon #gminus2 paper now published and available on the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory website: muon-g-2.fnal.gov #physics #StandardModel
Now, this is where the g-2 #gminus2 experiment at
@Fermilab
comes in: it measures how one of the elementary particles spins in a magnetic field.
A bit like when you have a top, you can draw conclusions on where the material is inside the top, just from how the top spins
New results of the G-2 experiment are expected to be presented at a Fermilab colloquium later Today. Now, why is this #gminus2 experiment so interesting and gets even jaded particle physicists like me excited? A thread:
(today at 10 am Chicago time, www.youtube.com/@fermilab )
I only now found out that Fermilab #gminus2 wanted to have this plot included in yesterday's talk, but I failed to reply to their e-mails. Sad it didn't happen. 😰
At least it proves that when I'm on holidays I don't read my e-mail. 👍
#gminus2 - question on lepton-universality. They talk of LHCb. 😍
I'm waiting for a Summer blockbuster/disaster movie trailer:
"Something is amiss with the muons..."
in style of the movie '2012'...

I don't want to increase the pressure, dear ambulance chasers, but... #gminus2
Here's the updated anomalies plot after #gminus2

I'll upload it to www.scholarpedia.org/article/Rare_decays_of_b... tomorrow. CC BY-NC-SA 3.0
An exciting result! Hints of muons behaving weirdly now 4.2 sigma (combined with the Brookhaven measurement) away from the predictions of the Standard Model...

That was fast. First @arxiv post on why the #gminus2 calculations are wrong. Matt Visser posted https://arxiv.org/abs/1802.00651 on Friday.
