A few quick sketches I made of some of the amazing exhibits we saw yesterday on display at the @nhmla.bsky.social including their newest addition, a #Diplodocus nicknamed #Gnatalie and my personal favorite, a lovely #coelocanth specimen.

Interesting how not very tall at the shoulder she is... in fact, I assume one purpose of the rather elevated platform is to meet visitors' expectations of a towering sauropod.

Is her stature because #Gnatalie is a smaller species of diplodocid, or because the specimens likely were juveniles?

Looking at #Gnatalie, our new dinosaur displayed at the newly opened #NHMLA Commons Entrance.

The material you see here is a composite of 5 diplodocids representing a new species, all from a quarry in southeast Utah that is rich in celadonite which turned all the bones in the locality green.
