A Great Black Wasp. I was a little surprised at how big they are. They are a recent arrival here in Ontario thanks to climate change. Glad I'm not a Cricket.

Some backyard insect observations from this week: 1. Great Black Wasp 2. Federally endangered Rusty-patched Bumblebee (I've seen 10 in my yard this week) and 3. Thick-headed Fly (not a wasp).
