OMGOOSH, this look... here's the thing. Julie Warner is doing INCREDIBLE work here to make Michelle Brock into a character/person I CANNOT HELP BUT FALL MADLY IN LOVE WITH, and narratively, Tommy can't either. It's actually sort of irrelevant whether I fall in love with her, but it definitely matters if Tommy does! And the point is that Warner is doing an incredible job, and presumably exactly what was asked of her: make this woman irresistible, quirky, brash, gorgeous, charming... and she did all those things and more. But my point is, no one should be weird to/about her, though I think it's okay (I guess?) to be weird to/about the character of Michelle Brock 😅 What a hero, right?

Michelle: "How about some coffee?" Tommy: "I'd love some." I LOVE THIS RELATIONSHIP! She is generous to Tommy, who has experienced a loss in status right in front of her as they re-meet, and she graciously 'saves the cat,' which in this case is Tommy Boy, and then in return, Tommy is one of the most interpersonally generous people not just in this film, but in cinema history. I'm crying, and I often am, watching or talking about this film. I think it's beautiful, what it depicts, serves and imparts.

I'm NOT poly; though I can and do fall in love with anyone/everyone, it's serially, only one at a time. That's not better or worse! It just is!
