From a slightly elevated but broad-angle view, a curved breakwater of massive, roughly hewn limestone slabs fills the lower half of the frame. The blocks, varying in size and punctuated by cracks and flecks of pale yellow lichen, extend into the lake as a narrow jetty. Beyond, the water’s surface shows fine, uniform ripples. Above, thick layers of cloud—ranging from light dove-gray to deeper charcoal—stretch across the sky, diffusing the daylight into even, shadowless illumination.

Seen from directly above a short flight of wide stone steps, this image guides the eye down the worn treads to a narrow gravel-and-sand shoreline. On either side of the steps, flat limestone platforms show faint scratches and weather stains. Just past the beach, another stubby breakwater of stacked boulders reaches into the lake. The water here is glassy close to shore, darkening to steel blue at the horizon. Overhead, heavy cloud cover creates a hushed, almost monochrome scene that feels both peaceful and vast.
