This Black-headed Gull, white 29L9 was ringed just outside Reading as a chick in June 2014; it clearly found Tice’s Meadow near Aldershot to its liking for a while, but it’s appearance on 8th August at Langford was the first sighting in over 16 months #gullhistories (5/n)
Another Lesser Black-backed Gull, black JR2L was ringed as a chick on the island of Rauna in SW Norway in July 2012; my sighting on 3rd August was the first report since it was seen on a beach in Morocco in Nov 2012 #gullhistories (4/n)
Next is a Lesser Black-backed Gull, yellow HEE45, ringed on the island of Amrum in NW Germany in July 2014. This is the third time it’s been recorded locally to Newark (and it turns out I had it at Cotham Landfill in July 2017) #gullhistories (3/n)
First up is yellow X34E, the Caspian Gull (now a 3rd summer) which has been visiting the Trent Valley north of Newark annually since Aug 2018 and turned up on 18 July this year; it was ringed in a mixed colony at Laußig, near Leipzig (Germany) in June 2018 #gullhistories (2/n)

Details back on this bird. Ringed in June 2018 at a mixed colony at Laußig, just NW of Leipzig, and considered to be a ‘good’ Caspian by the ringer based on photos taken of it in 2019. It obviously likes the section of Trent between Newark and Gainsborough! #gulls #gullhistories

Great black backed Gull JK390 seen today at Hastings, East Sussex. I also saw this bird at Dungeness, Kent 4 days ago. It was in Calais on 7th Dec. 2018 and was ringed as a chick in Vest-Agder, Norway on 27th June 2018 #gullhistories

I think my "Gull of the year" was this Caspian at Dungeness in February. A really nice example of that age class. Ringed in paczków, Poland in May 2016. #gullhistories
