Illustration of Shakespeare’s Hamlet ending scene. Hamlet and Horatio are on the foreground, with Horatio holding Hamlet’s body as he dies from poisoning. He’s bleeding from his mouth, and Horatio hands are also concerned in blood. Horatio looks out as if viewing something off to the left. There are tears in his eyes.

Behind them is a gold framed mirror reflecting a loose image of King Hamlet’s ghost. He’s shrouded, face appearing as a skull, and in his hands holds an ornate gold sword that matches the gold crown on his head. Both items have small red gemstones adorning them. The ghost appears to be in fire.

The mirrors frame features small star and moon motifs at the corners, and on the rounded peak reads “Horatio says ‘this but our fantasy, and will not let belief take hold.” This line is from Act 1, Scene 1, lines 27 and 28 of the play. The frame also features small patches of forget-me-not flowers growing in and around the edges. The whole piece features a soft golden light coming from the left, hitting Hamlet and Horatio quite harshly.
