#Reading: #EmilyWilde'sEncyclopediaofFaeries by #HeatherFawcett. First in a series. Entertaining read, liked the style which emulates academic writing. Set in an alternate history Scandinavia, which was fun after just reading a history of the vikings.

So I finished Snake Eater by T Kingfisher in like two days. I liked it. It was some of the best fantasy I've read in a while. Now I'm on to Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia Of Fearies by Heather Fawcett. It's cute so far. I just finished chapter one and I think I'm going to like it. #HeatherFawcett

Grade A #BookReview: Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter by Heather Fawcett My Review:  The wizard Havelock Renard is about as charming as the feral cats that Agnes Aubert rescues and socializes in her initially not mystical at all cat shelter. It’s a good thing that she’s so good at that particular job, as the wizard the newspapers have dubbed ‘Witch King’ isn’t exactly fit for polite company when this story begins.

voodoocactus's review of Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales (Emily Wilde, #3) 3/5: The final book of the Emily Wilde trilogy starts as preppy and witty as the two previous books but it soon takes a darker turn when the curse takes hold and things go from bad to worse. There’s a curse, there’s death, there’s miraculous recovery, there’s daring missions to slay monsters, save people, the family business. Don’t get me wrong, this was a good book, entertaining and funny. But the ending felt a bit like a cop-out and I sometimes felt like there was just a little too much “good heavens” etc. But as a closing book of a trilogy, a solid story.

It's been a while since I've been obsessed with a book series; I read each book probably within 48 hours. I think part of why is that Emily and I are quite similar in a lot of aspects (like lacking social skills) and Wendell is somewhat similar to my boyfriend.

Hit up a few panels. The star for me, the reason I could not miss yesterday, was #heatherfawcett. I saw her, as well as 4 other fantastic female writers, in a panel about reworking fairy tales. I'll be going back today to have her sign my Owl Crate special editions of her Emily Wilde books.

But what a delight! An absolute delight! I loved it! I squee’d so many times and grinned like a loon through the whole book. What more can I say? Okay, fine, yes, towards the end the plot falls apart and feels a bit dragged on but it turns out well in the end. (Yes, I placed a hold on the next two books in the series right away.)
