I have always loved St Bartholomew's Church in Tong. It's a building with a rich history. Founded by Lady Isabella de Pembrugge, her tomb can still be seen. I noticed today it bears a hexafoil, an apotropaic symbol believed to ward off evil and provide protection.

Surrealistic illustration done in black ink, partly colored with pencils. The page is dominated by circles. The central circle is the moon. The second circle is made up of six ravens, one of them set in the constallation of Corvus. The third is the circle around a hexafoil. All three overlay a dreamy landscape of mountain peaks and wild greenery in which a woman and her unicorn are sitting.

Sage advice, though we’re still waiting for Australia’s first confirmed witch bottle, and that becomes less and less likely with the passing of time.
Apotropaic markings and concealed shoes, however, we have a wealth of these!

A small round pendant is with a daisy wheel or hexafoil pattern on an oxidised surface is laying on an open book. The pendant loop is large, and through it runs a chunky silver chain.
The #hexafoil has been widely used throughout European folk art for a very long time, possibly from the Late Bronze Age. In the UK the hexafoil is commonly found on churches, but also in barns and private buildings, as a symbol of protection. (Wikipedia)
