The Draft Income-tax Rules 2026 suggest adding Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata to the list of cities eligible for 50% HRA exemption in the old tax regime.

Heel soms valt er ook weleens niks te twijfelen

Tegenover ‘t handhaven van de #HRA, verhogen bankiersbonussen & niets doen tegen de groeiende vermogensongelijkheid staat in #AanDeSlag o.a. een half miljard bezuinigingen op de gehandicaptenzorg…
Dit is alles wat je hoeft te weten over het sociaal geweten van de #VVD & het verraad van #RobJetten.

Het gevecht om de ultieme VVD-scalp, de hypotheekrenteaftrek, is nog niet helemaal gestreden De VVD pronkt ermee op billboards door heel het land: de hypotheekrenteaftrek blijft overeind, hoezeer D66 en CDA er ook tegen waren. Toch zit er nog een adder onder het gras.

De strijd om de #HRA, #hypotheek renteaftrek, is nog niet 100% door de #VVD gewonnen, want er is een probleem met de max. aftrektermijn van 30jr, omdat de @belastingdienst.bsky.social niet weet hoe lang die aflossingsvrije hypotheken lopen. Geven de huiseigenaren dat niet op, dan kost dat ~€1Md/jr.

Ik ben een huiseigenaar, met een hypothecaire lening. Ik profiteer van de #HRA, maar vind het een schande dat door dit belastingvoordeel zo te houden, er enorm gesneden moet worden in de zorg. Beperk die aftrek een kijk eens wat je dan overhoudt. Kun je heel wat mee doen.

Wat is #AanDeSlag een bittere teleurstelling.
1️⃣ #HRA onaangetast ondanks dat #D66 & #CDA 44 zetels hebben en #VVD maar 22!
2️⃣ #Lelystad Airport open.
3️⃣ #EigenRisico fors omhoog, zware bezuinigingen op #zorg.
4️⃣ #WW enorm ingekort!

Free speech doesn’t disappear because someone wakes up one morning and decides to ban it. It erodes because systems slowly stop rewarding tolerance, disagreement, and long-term thinking — and start rewarding caution, control, and short-term risk management. That brings us to something we’ve only circled so far, but haven’t named directly: How power is distributed matters as much as what the law says.

Free speech doesn’t disappear because someone wakes up one morning and decides to ban it.

We’ve looked at how free speech in the UK isn’t ancient or absolute, how it’s conditional, qualified, and increasingly enforced by culture and institutions rather than courts. We’ve looked at how uncertainty, anxiety, and risk-aversion do a lot of quiet work without anyone ever needing to pass a censorship law. At this point, a fair question arises: Isn’t this all a bit… disheartening? And more importantly: Has this ever been spotted and stopped?

We’ve looked at how free speech in the UK isn’t ancient or absolute, how it’s conditional, qualified, and increasingly enforced by culture and institutions rather than courts.

So can threats to free speech be spotted and protected agains?

This is in fundamental breach of the most basic rule of law principles. And of any morals. It shows why we need international human rights treaties like the #ECHR to rein in governments. (And yes of course this also breaches the Convention and the #HRA Expect challenges.)
