A bowl with picked lettuce, some that have clearly bolted into a long tall stalk with leaves coming off of it.
A pile of bolted lettuce with a three tub hydroponic "tower" on the other side of the counter--the lettuce came from this tower.
Image of the hydroponic tower, where lettuce has been cut about one inch from the roots. It looks scraggly, because the tower needs to be renewed.
Two bowls. The one at the top has a pile of freshly picked lettuce. The one below has a tomato, cucumber, and garbanzo salad.
So there comes a time when I have to start "closing down" my #hydroponic garden. Usually when the lettuce starts bolting it is bitter.
You can cut the #hydroponiclettuce about an inch off the base-- like garden lettuce, and get a lot of lettuce for *months*. I reserve stems for my stock bag.
