In the first photo I did not know I was dangerously hypo and had no symptoms. Congenital Hyperinsulinism causes the pancreas to produce too much insulin, which results in low blood glucose levels. (3/4)

I was diagnosed and started diazoxide at 1 years old, at 9 years old I came off diazoxide but at 22 years old I still have hyperinsulinism and have very frequent hypos. (2/4)

Yesterday’s routine? Perfect. Today? Blood sugar has a mind of its own 💥

Illness, sleep, stress, activity, hormones, body changes, teething, anxiety… any could be the reason.

But hypoglycaemia in #Hyperinsulinism is unpredictable = same day, same routine, completely different result.

It is important to know that in babies, hypoglycaemia can be hard to detect. Watch for feeding difficulties, breathing problems, seizures, or unresponsiveness, these could signal dangerously low blood sugar.
