DESC: A page of digital studies of woollie mice. The lower half features one with a spotted coat (a “piebald” coat) The “singing woolly” is a breed of mouse that has taken off as a pet. Their lineage is descended from hybridizing the woolly mouse with transgenic mice implanted with the human FOXP2 and NOVA1 genes, which in humans contribute to language functions. A side effect of their more intensive domestication is increased variance in coat patterns, and numerous color morphs have been bred. They are prized for their ability to mimic almost any melody and their heightened curiosity and intelligence. Similarly to parrots, they come with the drawback of becoming easily bored, requiring frequent stimulation and a diverse supply of toys. Singing woollies are notorious as escape artists and troublemakers, so keeping them occupied is a required to keep them from mischief.
