Ice encases a spray of mountain laurel in this post-winter storm photo. The broadly oval, smooth, green mountain laurel leaves radiate from central stems, each set resembling an open flower. Each leaf wears a thin coat of ice that ends in a narrow, crystal-clear icicle. Each icicle hangs off its leaf at nearly a 45 degree angle, a dramatic indicator of the wind that romped through the night with the icy rain. Glints of sky, snow, and distant branches appear in the thin, curling icicles.
