Looking at #idcc24, most rode it to deadline for submitting a proposal (dotted line for papers/lightning talks - posters came later).
Anyway, deadline for #idcc25 is 26 July 2024, 28 days away. Look forward to an avalanche of brilliant proposals this time next month!

From the programme side of #IDCC24 I have a few thank you's to give.

All who presented, co-authored, or contributed in some way to a proposal. You gave us something to learn, provided something to think about, or made us aware of something going on in an aspect of our community.

One poster, one minute, hopefully more than one person in the audience. #IDCC24 minute madness session, coming right up.

Finding cultural barriers are there in FAIR (would like to know more on that)
Seems to be a responsibility/accountability issue. Who's responsible for FAIR?
And my long-time fave: resistance to Open, mitigated by talking about closed FAIR

Also mention of AI as a disruptor of trust, just by its presence. (Now there's a good topic for discussion...)

One final note... FAIR should go along with integrity - poor, even fraudulent, research can be FAIR. FAIR alone isn't trustworthy as to the veracity of research. #idcc24

Ingrid Dillo of DANS at #idcc24 - data thrown over the hedge to meet a funder requirement is not going to help other researchers. (last bit is paraphrased). COuld not agree more. 'Data thrown over the hedge' will also rot. #digipres #digitalpreservation

Back on the train from Edinburgh. Great workshop at #idcc24 - met some new people, reconnected with some people I haven't seen for ages (the record being ~18 years).

Not really about PIDs, but interesting challenge for DataCite UK consortium in keeping a community identity (mutually supportive, strong bonds) with a few to members, to trying to keep that with many more (and fewer face-to-face) interactions and differing needs from the service. #IDCC24

They're currently in the discovery phase. Looking to make data as open as possible and closed as necessary, but also looking to align with existing best practice.

Ambiguity issue around tags. We are promoting #idcc24 over #idcc2024.

Ahead of #IDCC24, I was just looking (procrastinating) at previous conferences. This from 2006 reads like an insight in to a lost world. The days you had to go to the WiFi before WiFi came to you.

As the new year gets underway so too do our plans for connecting with our community and clients. We will be in Edinburgh soon for #IDCC24. "Trust through Transparency" is a theme that spoke to us and we would love to talk to you about it if you're in the neigbourhood! dcc.ac.uk/events/idcc24

Great to see this published at last, from @lyndamk.bsky.social's team at Penn, a FAIR Assessment Checklist for Data Repositories. doi.org/10.48659/DTQ.... A poster on this will be at #IDCC24.

Fits in well with the work of the FAIR-Impact project in Europe on repository support and metrics for FAIR.
