Visual Stuff: This is one of my few attempts at drawing more "curvy" proportions for a character. Not going to lie, it was very nerve-racking in trying to get stuff right to be attractive and "realistically" accurate. It was certainly a struggle to pull off, but I pushed through. Some stuff that helped me were online drawing tips, light practice from drawing class, and, most importantly, listening to the crowd. When people get down bad for art, they honestly point out a lot of useful features to highlight and work on (Ex: Fishnets and stocking hugging the legs, belly rendering, small highlights on the skin, etc) More notes in the next image's description
Visual Stuff (Cont): I wanted to try out a new lighting angle where they came from all different directions. The setting is meant to be in more of a lab than a fitting room, so I thought there would be a fluorescent LED ceiling light that lights up the whole area rather than one direction like a stage light or natural lighting would do. There are still some areas that look like directional lighting, but it should mostly be from above and to the sides
Lore/Story: A few years ago, Shoomimi finally changed her humanoid mech suit. After she fled the laboratory, her makeshift suit was mostly destroyed and had to make a new one with not much more resources. It was small, larger than a mouse, and had limited functions, but it was how she lived those early years. Fast forward and Shoomimi became friends w/ the now CEO of a big tech company, Ellie Minibot, which eventually allowed her to get a new suit. She was allowed to check out different models to see what worked for her, inviting her fiancรฉ & fellow escapee/sister to help her financially and aesthetically. This one you see is the Model T38, a state of the art mech with robust mechanics and a voluptuous appearance. However, the price to maintain and purchase it (this including the discount Ellie gave them) was too high for their status, so it became one of the rejects.

Lore: It was a pretty crazy year for Shoomimi. Nearly being at the brink of shutting down her lab, learning a bit more of where she came from, Bo's situation, etc. Shoomimi has been pooped. Thankfully it looked like she was able to have some fun and even tuckered out from the festivities. At this point everyone has left, I was the last one to get out of the basement (minus the Shoominions who can't leave) but I noticed she never took a slice of cake. So I relit one of the candles, the ants carried our gift, and then departed until it's back to work for the both of us. I really like spending time with Shoomimi, although it's unnecessary for my priorities, helping her and the other lab volunteers fills me with purpose and motivation I cannot find anywhere else.
This might be one of the few times a non-animated art piece took me more than a day to finish, mainly because I was rushing to complete it the day prior the kudoboard due to irl stuff. Anyways, onto to more visual facts: - Most of the presents are based on some other vtuber palettes: Shoomimi (obv), Doomimi (Shoom's emo ver.), Shmimi (dog), Ellie, Bo (canonically an old present), MinoriNyabe, BulbieBrooke, HoneyTKB, Shrek (a friend prob gave the gift) OtakoTan, Bookieson_, and me. - First appearence of Shoomi's symbol in-universe on the birthday banner. - The bday hats are designed off the ones I sent on her April Fools bday - might be the first time I drew a visible light source that affects its surroundings
