I keep calling this my "Rock Quilt" in my head. I assigned myself a design challenge to use: (1) a non preferred color palette; (2) larger scale shapes; and (3) improvise curves. It's about 60"x70", but feels like a little sketch.

An amazingly beautiful but very bright quilt behind held in front of a 100 year old magnolia tree in full bloom. There are petals all over the ground and the quilt says fuck, over and over again, 47 times to be exact.

These mini quilts are a fun break from larger projects. I like the 1.5" deep gallery wrapped canvases (bought on sale at Michaels.) Kelly Spell's tutorial on mounting to a canvas is excellent.

A heart quilt hanging from a clothesline; the heart is fashioned from primary batiks and tonals surrounded by mostly cream-based low volume fabrics.
Warm tone improv quilt hanging from a clothesline. A small dark red vertical rectangle forms the upper left corner, bordered by thin white strips, leading to a backwards dark orange L shape, made from a variety of prints. That is bordered by white, leading to a light yellow backwards L, bordered by white, which is followed by a medium red backwards L. A white border leads to a medium yellow backwards L, followed by a final white border, ending the quilt with a medium orange backwards L that forms the right and bottom of the quilt. All sections are made with multiple prints, bringing a scrappy vibe to the quilt.
A couple of oldies but definitely close to my heart goodies; from 2015, a year into my #quilting journey I made these for young women in need of support. Patchwork was my game for the heart, while an improv mood was stirring for the warm tones #quilt. 💗💛🧡❤️
