When combined, both these features are larger than your typical Japanese but smaller than your giant knotweed. Therefore this plant is most likely to be the hybrid Bohemian knotweed. #invasiveinsects #invasiveplants (4/4)

Double whammy while on holiday in New England. Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica) on knotweed (Reynoutria sp.). Both are non-native species in the northeastern US. The Japanese beetle first arrived in the US on plants from Japan as part of 1916 World’s Fair. #invasiveinsects #invasiveplants (1/4)

A Common Red Soldier Beetle. I learned on the internet that it's a new invasive species here in Ontario Canada. Another on the list of things I thought we did something about, but we don't.

A very pointed petal, deep purple Clematis flower starting to open. The center is a buttery yellow. The bloom is roughly 4" across. More buds peek over the edges on the left. It's against a bare metal pole and has bright gren leaves below and dead brown oak leaves on the ground.

This is Haku Oonan.

An invasive Spotted Lanternfly nymph sits on the edge of a bamboo bird house, the edge of the skylight above it.

It was promptly squished as soon as this photo was taken, as it deserves. I have spoken.

Planted 6 native Black Walnuts today.

Clematis 'Haku Oonan' is starting to bloom.

Native Dwarf Crested Iris has spread more, but no buds yet.

Unfortunately, also found invasive Spotted Lanternfly nymphs. Squished & stomped as many as I could. Dammit.
