Isabela McDonald: Our research prioritises the voices of affected women and girls to empower them and strengthen support for other families facing similar health challenges.
Jhulia dos Santos: Not all women are impacted in the same way by disease outbreaks. Community participation in policy development and the research process are key to addressing the gendered impacts of disease outbreaks.
Nuria Sanchez Clemente: Our research shows pregnant and breastfeeding women are often excluded in vaccine research for emerging pathogens. Future vaccine development must include them so they benefit the most at risk populations.
Elizabeth Brickley: I want to see more women delivering keynote speeches and sharing their knowledge through media interviews. We also need to support more women scientists to reach leadership positions.
👩🔬 As part of #IWD25 in March, we talked to members of the majority-female Health Equity Action Lab about their research addressing the needs & experiences of women in disease outbreaks. 🦠
