Wizards don't believe in gods in the same way that most people don't find it necessary to believe in, say, tables. You could play adventures akin to those Fighting Fantasy enthusiasts were enjoying, and you also had a core book that supported games with your friends. The #JoshKirby cover/interior was the icing on an already tasty cake for me as a reader.
It's still worth picking up.
