A very small and dainty white wire fence has been pushed into the ground around the remaining half of the sapling. On the property line, a dozen peonies coated in powdery mildew reach through the chain link fence.
I'm so angry and confused and depressed. Like, literally, why?? I put a little passive aggressive fence around the rest of it - not that I think my neighbor can see it through his mildew-infested peonies... 😭😑

My neighbor has a lovely big apple tree, and an apple sapling has been growing on our side of the fence for the past year - I think from a fallen apple.
Anyway my neighbor reached over my fence yesterday and cut it in half 🫠

My mum is an avid gardener, and I always thought I was rubbish at it. Turns out all I needed was accessibility - containers and raised beds are making all the difference.
I've been spending nearly every quiet moment outside with my plants lately. It's been nice.

I am so proud of my little container garden. I've worked through chronic pain, tough times, and a ruined spring planting to be where I'm at, with decent veggies on the way.
I am *in no way* jealous of my neighbor's in-ground, fully rototilled, thriving vegetable garden, I am NOT JEA

Cabbage, bok choi, romaine lettuce, radishes, arugula/rocket, and experimental watermelon planted. Not great hope for that last one but I figured it's worth a try.
I also planted a seed potato (yukon gold from the grocery store) and trimmed the pumpkins.

Zucchini plants are thinned out and repotted, tomatoes are pruned (as best as I know how!). I put some extra support in for the peas in the greenhouse where the corn grew in late. I have more tomato seedlings to thin and repot, and I think I might start some cabbage soon!!

I'll turn the front yard into a full cottage shade garden one day, but right now I'm stuck on container planting and raised beds. Honestly, if you deal with chronic pain and fatigue, I recommend container planting! It's been so much easier for me to get into AND keep up with.

Scattered some combo grass and clover seeds into a nicely watered yard this morning! Didn't have quite enough for the front but that yard's shaded and in better condition... mostly.

Spritzed the driveway with organic weedkiller (concentrated vinegar + salt + gentle soap - I bought it pre-mixed) so we'll wait around and see how well that works! If it does well I'll get another gallon of it to tidy up the concrete cracks and spots I missed

Yards watered - trying to resuscitate the dry patches near the house. I have dreams of a slightly more drought-resistant clover lawn, with a little path by the roses, and some raised beds... I'll see if I can't get some clover to take to it this year. Lawns are stupid.

The weed killer is for my overgrown driveway, and for a few areas I'm looking to change from loose weedy gravel to raised beds and possible covered outdoor storage. Those areas won't get fully done up this year, I'm sure - but I can at least start the process

I already got the yard mowed, and my order of organic weed killer and new seeds arrived earlier this week!! Not sure I can plant all these babies in this heat but at least I have them for later
