Two brown/orange socks knit through the legs with cable pattern.
Currently on my needles in the #KnittingSocks category, I have a simple pair of stocking stitch using my usual recipe (both knit through the cuffs) and also this pair using the Fairy Maiden pattern by This Handmade Life (available on Ravelry). Just starting the heel flaps on these.

Yes, my mainly-wool label says I can. But not whether it's advisable!

Dear #KnittingSocks friends, guess what I've found? This is an old 'Greenock' knitting pattern from eBay. But it has family significance, as we know that a sock-knitting aunt once lived in Greenock. Who knows, she may have had a copy of this pattern.
But I want to start #KnittingGloves next!

I have more wool for the #KnittingSocks experiment. Mostly multicoloured (ombre? I'm out of my depth here!) - but as well as multicoloured socks, I shall also have #SuffragetteSocks, and some tasteful black/grey 'ombre' socks for when I feel sensibly grown-up. Watch this space!

So yes, to answer Himself, I DID go out in my 'kid-like' socks. (They match the jacket - that's coincidental.) They had an active inauguration.

I seem to have knitted a sock @needmoresleep19.bsky.social. A bit small in the foot.Not perfect at heel. Kitchener stitch at the toe a resounding fail. Nonetheless, is on my foot, so counts as a sock. Lessons have been learnt! I have a wee circular needle but double end pins TOO LONG #KnittingSocks

This is lovely yarn but it’s scary to block. I knit it up and tried it on and it was perfect. Then when I got the stuff wet to block them they instantly turned into bedsheets. So I’m waiting for them to dry to see if they turn back into socks…

Blue striped sock laid flat on a towel. The leg is all blues in a bobbly knot and purl pattern, the foot has some blue bit more greys and blacks.
First sock: blocking. Feat. late pattern re-planning when I realised that the second part-ball wasn’t the colour I thought it was… I like. The stitch pattern is totally lost in the stripe but I like the texture. 🧶

Two partly made socks in shades of blue. One is on a mini circular needle and has a slip stitch rib pattern with ending in a sort of Celtic knot on top of the foot. The other is on a purple sock gauge loom and is a helical stripe with grey and varigated blue yarn, it is fo a much larger person.
WIPs on needles and my new loom. A cunning plan: when my hands get tired and I need to have a break from knitting socks…. I can knit socks!!!
The loom is fun. Super fast for stockinette but a bit of a faff for purl, there must be a better way?!
