Lake of the Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains of Michigan. At the lower left is a large rock outcropping. The lake, which is not fully visible, cuts across the photo from the right center diagonally to the left. It is long, but doesn't appear very wide. The water is a deep blue. It is surrounded by tree-filled hills that come down to the edge of the lake. The upper quarter of the photo is a light blue sky with a smattering of white clouds.

Lake of the Clouds The most famous natural feature in the Porkies. I'm approaching the viewpoint and parking area along the Escarpment.

Everybody who visits the #Porkies wants to take this shot; so did I. It's easily reached from a parking lot - but for me it came near the end of a #backpacking trip in 2011.
