The National Weather Service has issued winter weather alerts for parts of the Northland that runs Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Gogebic, Iron, and Ontonagon counties. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Sawyer, and Washburn counties.
The snowfall forecast for this round of snow showers passing through the rest of Tuesday through Wednesday morning will see the highest totals along the South Shore Snowbelt region at 4 to 8 inches. The rest of the South Shore will see 3 to 6 inches, with interior northwest Wisconsin, the Twin Ports, and the I-35 Corridor seeing 2 to 4 inches. The North Shore will see 1 to 2 inches, with parts of the Arrowhead and Iron Range seeing up to 1 inch of new snowfall.
The round of snowfall forecasted for Tuesday evening and overnight comes after we saw a round of snow showers pass through Monday night in the Northland. The highest snowfall totals from this area include 4-inches in Cornucopia, Wisconsin and Washburn, Wisconsin, 3.4-inches in Ashland, Wisconsin, 3.3-inches in Mason, Wisconsin, 3.2-inches in the Duluth area, 3-inches in Aitkin, Minnesota, and 2.9-inches in Superior, Wisconsin.
