Isle of Bute, Scotland August 2020, early morning Chamonix 810V, Rodenstock Apo-Sironar S 240mm f/5.6 Kodak Portra 160 10x8 1/15” f/32, 25mm front rise Lee 0.45 Hard Grad Stearman SP810, Bellini C41 Epson V850 240mm Rodenstock Apo-Sironar S is an absolute dream of a lens, and the one I now use most often, especially for close-ups for Alt-Pro contact printing. Not quite as big as the Nikkor 300, and needs a bit less bellows extension for macros. Approx 35mm focal length on a 35mm camera. Sadly this glorious and rather enormous beech tree no longer stands, blown down in a gale in the last couple of years. But 10x8 does it justice.

(Bonus is that it doesn't need a centre-filter - thank god!)

Hermaion: The Lyre Tree Glen Nevis, Scotland, November 2017 Linhof Technikardan S45, Fujinon-T 400mm f/8 Fujichrome Velvia 50 6º front tilt A ‘godsend’ find of a silver birch tree with some leaves still clinging on. Velvia rich purple-blues in the shade contrast starkly against the golden leaves, and the shape of the tree branches seemed to me to resemble the shape of the musical instrument of the title. 400mm lens, telephoto design, great on 5x4 for pulling out this kind of abstract detail in a scene.

TK is a fantastic camera, but spectacularly over-engineered and far too heavy - almost as heavy as an 8x10. Still have all this 5x4 gear though haven't used it in some time sadly.

Glen Etive Cloudscape, Scotland, November 2016 Nikon D800E, 70-200 f/4 VR - great tele landscape lens, but again not a lens I still own.

Second set, 2016. Move into large format film, and landscape work, including a spot of wild camping in Glencoe that November.
