Conclusion More research is needed. This could lead to a revolution in pedagogical lexicography, empowering language revitalization all over the world. It could also not do any of that. But a natural language with a very small lexicon (Tok Pisin) has been demonstrated here to have an enormous amount of lexicalized compounds when compared with English. In addition, (and this last bit is hilighted for emphasis), toki pona has little to zero lexicalized compounds.
In a 2024 computational linguistics study, linguists (me and my classmates) found that toki pona has little to no lexicalized compounds!
