FitzWilliam Street looking south. The street links three important parts of the south inner city. At the north end it meets Merrion Square and the Government Buildings area. To the south it reaches Fitzwilliam Square, one of the quieter Georgian squares. It has always been a professional address: architects, engineers, solicitors, embassies and cultural bodies occupy many of the buildings. ESB’s headquarters is on Fitzwilliam Street Lower, where a controversial redevelopment in the 1960s removed part of the original terrace.
