I don’t mean to beat around the bush…but why are lowbrow double entendres so much fun?

Despite attending the Fresno State football game in 2001, thankfully we arrived moments after Kenny G got finished performing the National Anthem.

An ink sketch of an anthropomorphic mouse face down on a table, in a pile of unidentified powder. The chair behind them is a mouse version of the chair from “Scarface”, and to either side of the chair are bags of cement powder. The pile of four cement bags to the left text, from top to bottom: “Canada cement”, “Hey…”, “I can’t “, “SMELL!”. The two piles of four cement bags to the right are partially obscured, text (left to right, top to bottom): “Pharmaceutical-“, “grade”, “not”, “for huma[n]”, “consumpti[on]”, “AAAGH!”. In front of the bags on the right is an upright bag with a maple leaf, with text “CEMENT from CANADA!”. On the table itself, to the left, is an unidentifiable pile of powder, an open box of corn starch, and a sack of powdered milk. On the right is an open box, on its side, contents spilling out, with text on the side that says “NUT FLOUR”, and on the front (facing up) of the box, “Canada’s Nuts” (because I am 10 years old sometimes). The facedown mous has a speech bubble over their head that says “My face… Schtuck thoo THABLE!” (“My face is stuck to the table!”). A speech bubble coming from the lower left says “Sir… that’s Canadian cement.”. (Amusement! Nose stuffiness! Brain cement! We aim to please.)

I find it ridiculous that last year, Canada’s contribution to fentanyl use in the US was 43lbs. Canada’s main exports are crude oil, planes, and metals. Cement, too.

A trade war with the excuse of 43lbs of illegal substance. Someone has been snorting cement powder. #sketchaday #artsky #lowbrowhumor

I love literary fiction, and some of my authored picture books could be classified as literary. But there will always be a part of me that is a tad juvenile, which is why I draw cartoons of rats burping. #silly #humour #sillyhumor #lowbrowhumor #rat #burp #burping #ratburping #kidlit #kidlitart
