Messier 106 Hey there, I'm Frank. I create web experiences and capture the beauty of the universe.

M106 is one of those objects that rewards a closer look. What appears to be extra spiral arms is actually shock-heated gas pushed out of the galactic plane by jets from an active nucleus.

M106 is one of those objects that rewards a closer look. What appears to be extra spiral arms is actually shock-heated gas pushed out of the galactic plane by jets from an active nucleus. This field also captures NGC 4217 edge-on, the interacting pair NGC 4231/4232, and several fainter neighbors […]

@juliew67.bsky.social I think I’m done with M106 (but are astrophotographers ever actually done tweaking? 😂). Both images are crops of an original image taken with a 350mm scope. Very happy w/ the detail in the aggressive crop. #m106 #astrophotography #astronomy #nightsky #zwo @apod.shinyakato.dev

I'm still in the process of learning how to use my new #Astrophotography 🔭📷 camera and mitigate some weird artefacts that are probably due to internal reflections in my imaging train. Anyways, here's #M106 (and more) in LRGB for @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social to plate solve 😇.

Letzte Nacht war es endlich mal klar, und ich konnte ein Astrobild machen.
Besonders faszinierend finde ich die schiere Zahl an Galaxien, die man im Bild finden kann.
