Looking to the stars.
I feel a shift happening with everyone. We're decluttering our lives. we're going back to simple pleasures. We're rejecting the idea of curating an image that represents our life. we're "living it".

First attempts with my new toy. And for only 2 hours worth of work, I’m loving it. I just need some good clear nights to try again. #astophotography
Fireflies and the Aurora Borealis over Smuggler's Notch earlier this week. While I knew this faced north, I was uncertain if the Aurora would be visible over the peaks #apod #aurora #auroraborealis #northernlights #astophotography #vermont #newengland #astrophoto #nightsky #space #astronomy
M101 - The Pinwheel Galaxy is a face-on spiral galaxy about 21 million light years distant from Earth.
Image annotated to show the other Deepsky objects also contained in the field of view.

M106 .. pretty aggressive crop as this was imaged with a 347mm telescope and 3.76 micron pixel size on the camera. Back to processing to try to squeeze out more detail! #M106 #galaxy #astophotography #nycsky #zwo
NGC 1579 (Northern Trifid Nebula) in the center of the image surrounded by a multitude of stars.
Tried to capture NGC 1499 but missed my target! Instead, I ended up with NGC 1579. Funny in a weird way--since I had captured 1499 just two nights earlier and was trying to improve my results.

My Pleiades photo from last night's stream is up on Patreon now for members. It was a good test of the Optolong L-Quad Enhance in heavy light polluted skies.

I've prepared a simple write up of the steps for my previous Jupiter rotating video in my old blog.

I'm always amazed how many stars can be 'seen' by a camera's sensor. Especially compared to the human eye. 🔭 🧪 #astophotography

I'm very happy with this one!

This is a picture of stacked images while doing #astophotography on perseid meteor shower. I think it was in 2021. Using nova.astrometry.net the astrometric calculations show the visible #constellations in the image. You can also see: #NGC682, #NGC7008, #M39, #IC5146 ( #ElephantsTrunk) and #IC1369.

"[Messier 51, the galaxy] and its companion, NGC 5195, are easily observed by amateur astronomers, and the two galaxies may be seen with binoculars." I'd like to debate Wikipedia on the "easily" but this was from the inner city in #Groningen, and if I can do #astophotography it can't be that hard!
