Yesterday saw the second Whinchat of the spring, a female. Also a Sedge Warbler and 2 Whitethroats. The first Chough’s are now on eggs with lots of the Herring Gull colonies now laying. Full list ⬇️

Today’s highlights included 6 Purple Sandpipers, 2 Turnstones, 1 Whimbrel, 1 Curlew and 2 White Wagtails.
The Collared Dove was still present, and our first broods of Mallard and Shags hatched 🐣

Always nice to ring Grasshopper Warblers, so two in the first net round was a win! Other highlights incl a Common Sandpiper, Collared Dove, Stock Dove and a total of 5 Lesser Redpolls. Full list ⬇️

Yesterday’s male Whinchat still present today, along with two Whitethroats and three Whimbrels. The long-returning Great Skua has also settled back on the Calf since arriving on the 15th, largely hanging out on Caigher. Full list below ⬇️
