The curve of a whale's back, showing a dorsal fin, seemingly almost at a right angle to its back. Fin doesn't curve noticeably.
Just the arch of a whale's back breaking the water's surface.

Could #MarineBiologists or #MarineScientists identify a whale's species from just the dorsal fin/ placement?
I saw this lovely just off the beach (about ~500ft) in the state of Maryland. It seemed to be the only one in the vicinity, it was moving pretty steadily southward just at daybreak.
