We enjoyed Maths through stories using the story ‘The Doorbell rang’ by Pat Hutchins. As more friends arrived we talked about how to share the cookies fairly so everyone had the same amount. Lots of counting, sharing and problem solving with cookies! 🍪 #Mathsthroughstories
#Mathsthroughstories - we listened to “🎃How many seeds in a Pumpkin?” audio book and used our resources to help us learn the 4x, 5x, 2x and 10x table. R’s group even went on to choose the 6x table, and F’s group chose the 8x! 🤩 R made his own arrays too upto 100🧡
We were following directions to the ‘Mixed City’ using the compass points. #mathsthroughstories
We read ‘Follow That Map’ and learned all about mapping and the compass points. We sang along to the cardinal directions song and used a compass to find N, S, E and W in the classroom! 🧭 #mathsweekscotland #mathsthroughstories
This book’The Great Expedition’ by Peter Carnavas would be a great was to introduce a range of mathematical concepts related to location, direction and position. #mathsthroughstories #iteachmaths #mtbos #mathematicseducation
Book cover for “I am this big” written in colour writing . A child is standing with their right arm about their head indicating how tall they are. A black bird is above the child.
Love how this book “I am this big” by Janeen Brian and Jess Racklyeft explores the attribute of length through a child noticing how big they in relation to other objects. #mathsthroughstories #iteachmath #mtbos

We enjoyed the story of the Great Pet Sale, and used the correct coins to buy ourselves a new pet! #mathsthroughstories
