The tubers of #Marahfabacea were crushed & thrown into surface waters by the #NativeAmericans #Kumeyaay to immobilize #fish. The tubers contain #megharrhin, a #saponin-like #glucoside, which would affect the physiology of fishes and causing them to float to the surface.
