Well, if it wasn't hard enough not being in Tokyo, just watched #FamilyRental. That was simply perfection. Brendan Fraser is a miracle amongst miracles in this heartfelt film. Also nearly feel outta my chair when Tamae Andô of #MidnightDiner showed up. Easily one of my new favorites.

I will never stopped vehemently recommending #MidnightDiner as peak #jdrama healing series.
I started #MidnightDiner during Covid era too, so I'm glad that Netflix decided to pick up the rest of the seasons outside of just Tokyo Diner.
But either way, they're all sits nicely in my #Plex server now if Netflix decides to remove them one day so we can continue watching it every December.
I watched #MidnightDiner so often now, that I can recite what the regulars usually order whenever they come up on the screen. 😅

The Yam Rice episode with Michiru was exceptionally potent too, since our Master tend to just work the diner himself. So for him to "adopt" a younger stray girl to work for him for a bit was a character development I did not expect.
Very on brand for our master's character though.

I tried it for a view episodes, but it failed to recreate the vibe and charm of #MidnightDiner, so I dropped it after episode 5.

No. We don't usually rewatch dramas. With the exception of #jdrama series #MidnightDiner that we rewatched every year in December with the final episode always coincides with NY eve.
Such a cozy series that it's just a habit now.

Tonight, I started to watch, for the third time, the Japanese TV series "Midnight Diner". I adore the protagonist, the Master, played by Kaoru Kobayashi, an outstanding actor. I also love the "slow, meditative rhythms" (The New Yorker) and the soundtrack.

Also, in #midnightdiner episode 10 season 2, the opening skit's contrast is funny: polite respectful American tourists, vs the locals up late at night treating the mascots poorly.
Still loving #midnightdiner years later. Gen just slapping the scam artist with that fat sack of cash in season 2 episode 10 was perfect.
Absolutely this, I will never stop trying to convince my friends to check out #MidnightDiner and most of them still think it's such a weird show because there's literally nothing happens in that #jdrama.
I keep telling them that's the point; and #OneDayOff is that #kdrama sharing the same vibe.
