I'm a big fan of #mnemonics for language learning. My latest, most favorite one is for 食堂 (しょくどう), pronounced shokudō, which is Japanese for canteen/dining room. I've been imagining an electrocuted doe served buffet-style... you know, a shocked doe. Gruesome and effective!
