Third session: refined the flames and guns (add SoFlat Pale Yellow and Kimera Orange, glazed guns with SoFlat Phthalo Blue Green Shade), painted exhausts and hubcaps with Molotow silver (One4All refill), painted engine with Vallejo gunmetal mixed with Daler Rowney Black Ink. Grill was Molotow silver mixed with the Phthalo Blue or Golden High Flow Acrylic Prussian Blue. Just the windshield and perhaps some weathering left! This second session: painted the tires and guns with a mix of Golden So Flat black and white. Blocked in the colors for flames on the hood and roof, no blending done yet but obviously still needed. Used Golden SoFlat pyrrole red, cadmium orange, and permanent yellow deep. First session: Though I experimented a bit with Molotow paints, the airbrush, and a gradient like the other car in this post, I eventually painted it entirely with Molotow silver, which is incredible. It’s got tiny mica flakes, is super bright, runs through an airbrush like a dream, and cleans easily from the airbrush. On top of that I applied a Golden high flow acrylic Prussian blue hue paint, which is transparent and so the car looks like it’s been painted with a metallic dark blue.

The entire palette is reminiscent of synthwave, very Miami Vice in appearance. This photo is a front view from above, taken with black light so the fluorescent pinks and blues glow. Third and final session: painted taillights. Outer lights were painted with Golden SoFlats cadmium red dark towards the bottom and a mix of the same line’s cadmium red light and fluorescent red. The inner lights were painted with Golden SoFlat cadmium red light towards the bottom and cadmium orange towards the top. Emblem on the rear was painted with Molotow One4All (refill) silver. Windshield was a mix of Golden SoFlat cerulean blue hue and a dark gray made of SoFlat black and white, then medium phthalo blue mixed into it until finally it was white with a touch of the medium phthalo blue. The guns were layered with shades of grey and then were glazed with thin filter of SoFlat phthalo blue. Edge highlighted selected areas with white and then SoFlat fluorescent pink on it. Second session: repainted the whole thing with Golden SoFlat dioxazine violet deep, then their blue violet, red violet, quinacridone magenta, then naphthol pink, and finally fluorescent pink. The missile and gun rack was Molotow One4All silver mixed with Daler Rowney marine blue ink. Missiles were Golden SoFlat Payne’s gray, then their blue violet, cerulean blue, and cobalt teal. Them applied some white with Golden High Flow Acrylic fluorescent blue on top of that. Still need to do the windshield, tires, hubcaps, tail lights, and guns. First session: airbrushed a gradient of Molotow One4All purple violet, then their purple, true blue, and shock blue middle. Then from above, Golden High Flow Acrylic teal.

This third session: refined the flames and guns (add SoFlat Pale Yellow and Kimera Orange, glazed guns with SoFlat Phthalo Blue Green Shade), painted exhausts and hubcaps with Molotow silver (One4All refill), painted engine with Vallejo gunmetal mixed with Daler Rowney Black Ink. Grill was Molotow silver mixed with the Phthalo Blue or Golden High Flow Acrylic Prussian Blue. Just the windshield and perhaps some weathering left! This second session: painted the tires and guns with a mix of Golden So Flat black and white. Blocked in the colors for flames on the hood and roof, no blending done yet but obviously still needed. Used Golden SoFlat pyrrole red, cadmium orange, and permanent yellow deep. First session: Though I experimented a bit with Molotow paints, the airbrush, and a gradient like the other car in this post, I eventually painted it entirely with Molotow silver, which is incredible. It’s got tiny mica flakes, is super bright, runs through an airbrush like a dream, and cleans easily from the airbrush. On top of that I applied a Golden high flow acrylic Prussian blue hue paint, which is transparent and so the car looks like it’s been painted with a metallic dark blue.

A miniature muscle car from the Car Wars game crudely painted with a metallic dark blue. The car sports lots of exhaust pipes, two pairs of black painted laser guns, a pair of black painted heavy machine guns, and what looks like either four launching ports or exhaust ports in the back. The engine sticks up above the hood and appears to be a v8. Front view from the (US) passenger’s side. This second session: painted the tires and guns with a mix of Golden So Flat black and white. First a coat of black was applied as a primer, then purple violet was applied as a base coat, then purple, true blue, and then shock blue middle. Then Golden high flow acrylic teal was applied from above.

The cars are all variously armored and kitted with various weapons — rifles, lasers, rockets, spikes and so on. In this first session, I drilled the barrels of the rifles and exhausts, washed them in soapy water, and primed them with Molotow One4All acrylic black refill. These paints are made for street art, stick and stay stuck to nearly anything, act as a good primer, and can go in an airbrush without dilution. They’re also super opaque paints, which can be handy sometimes!

Prepping for a #CarWars campaign. Primed all 19 cars my buddy has, which I think are all from the base set. Bored barrels, cleaned up a little flash, & then #airbrush primed them with #Molotow #One4All black refill (made for street art, it’s tough and acts as a good primer). #stevejacksongames #wip
