Fall Back, a poem by Dawn McLachlan That blue morning the last Sunday of the month I was far too cold to leave my bed And the moon far too pretty for hers Making no excuses for her hesitancy Spilling silver to hold back the gold Agreed, unspoken, this uneasy truce with my blankets tugged ever higher Sharing time misplaced by tradition I slowly turned back the hands She kept her bright watch Together we waited For the day Footnote - this is a shape poem in the shape of a full moon
