1975: London Tube crash victims speak about tragedy On the 28 February 1975, the BBC spoke to commuters whose lives changed after a packed Tube train crashed at Moorgate.

#Onthisday in 1975. #Moorgate tube crash. The worst London Underground crash in history with 43 deaths. The train went at 40mph into a dead end. The driver's cabin was reduced from a depth of 3ft to 6in. It took 4 days to get to his remains. The cause remains a mystery.

Today, firefighters in the City of London will take part in a service to mark 50 years since the #Moorgate Tube Crash in 1975.

43 people lost their lives, and 74 people were injured. To this day, the thoughts of the entire Brigade remain with their families and friends.

Looking along the platform at Moorgate Northern City Line station towards the 'headwall' where trains would normally stop, only one red 1938 Tube Stock car is visible in the platform with the rest of the 3-car unit occupying the over-run tunnel beyond, horribly crushed out of view. The rear 3-car unit of the 6-car train has been uncoupled and removed. Rescue workers and equipment are on the platform and firefighters can be seen standing on the roof of the car, which is tilting upwards at an angle where it had ridden up onto the car in front.
