We did it! Many years of activism came to fruition today as the #MoreSpaceQBB south outer roadway was finally repurposed as a pedestrian-only path. People can now walk and jog across safely. You can even walk side-by-side!!

@nyc-dot.bsky.social has long known of the dangers on the #QBB NOR & finally after many years, crashes & injuries, designed a plan to improve safety by opening the SOR to create #MoreSpaceQBB. But it is now inexplicably delaying that implementation & exposing the City to liability.

Idk what this means, but today there was a big crew of workers on the #MoreSpaceQBB fixing stuff, and I smelled paint? They seem busier than usual. So maybe they’re almost done with the decking project that allegedly is responsible for the delay opening up the SOR…?

On my way to the #MoreSpaceQBB march, I witnessed a guy on an e-bike make an unsafe pass (passed on the right, for no reason— he could have waited till it was clear) almost smash into a guy jogging. The narrow shared path is egregiously dangerous. We need more space!!
