A male Common Blue butterfly on thistle
A freshly emerged Speckled Wood butterfly perched on bracken
Lots of butterflies around the #MortimerForest today. In this selection, Silver-washed Fritillary, Peacock, Common Blue, Speckled Wood.
I was impressed with the acrobatics of a Marsh Tit at Mortimer Forest on Sunday. However, I think the male Bullfinch gave it some competition! #ukbirding #Herefordshirebirds #mortimerforest
My first post! How exciting. Mortimer Forest, Herefordshire was the weekend's venue. A lovely Bullfinch pair nibbling larch (I think) buds, Ravens, 2 singing Marsh Tits (photo), and a solitary singing Willow Tit in the tall conifers. A lovely place. #MortimerForest
Autumn colours of red and brown on 2 trees in the foreground, evergreen frees in the background disappearing into the mist
A dirt track road the forest. an evergreen tree in the background, The deciduous trees in the foreground either side of the road are shedding their orange and brown leaves on the road. Brown bracken and ferns lie along each side of the road
Apparently I had to go to Mortimer Forest today in a quest to get some pine cones (or whatever similar things I could find)
As it was very autumn-y and damp, I also took the camera.
(I did get some cones too...)
